About the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction

Known as “The World’s Greatest Collector Car Auctions,” Barrett-Jackson brings a large international audience of collectors, dealers, automotive enthusiasts, and even celebrities to Scottsdale, Arizona, each January.

Founded by Tom Barrett and Russ Jackson, Barrett-Jackson has been operating since 1971 and has grown into one of the best-known names in the collector car world. The annual Scottsdale Auction is the company’s flagship event and typically spans more than a week in mid-to-late January.

The auction features an impressive mix of classic and modern collectible vehicles, including American muscle cars, classics, customs, and modern supercars. Thousands of vehicles may be on display throughout the event, with collector cars crossing the famous auction block in front of bidders and spectators.

Barrett-Jackson is more than a traditional car show or auction, too. The event combines collector car sales with a festival-like atmosphere featuring entertainment, vendor displays, food and beverage options, shopping, and interactive automotive experiences.

Whether you’re traveling to Scottsdale to bid on a collector car, shop the Exhibitor Marketplace, or simply attend one of Arizona’s biggest automotive events, there’s plenty to see and do throughout the week.

Tickets are generally open to the public, with different admission tiers available. Single-day ticket prices vary depending on the day and ticket type (usually around $35/day for adults), with discounted tickets available for seniors, students, and military members.

What to Expect at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale

Barrett-Jackson is much more than a traditional collector car auction. The atmosphere around the auction block is famously energetic, with active crowd participation as each vehicle goes up for sale. Attendees can inspect vehicles up close before the auction begins and see everything from rare classics to modern collectible cars on display.

Many vehicles at Barrett-Jackson are offered at No Reserve, which means there is no minimum reserve price that must be met before the vehicle can be sold. Barrett-Jackson introduced an all-No-Reserve format at its Scottsdale event in 2005, although a limited number of Reserve vehicles have been included in later years.

Manufacturer driving experiences are another major part of the event. At The Performance Track, guests can experience thrill rides with professional drivers in vehicles from major automakers, while select driving experiences allow attendees to get behind the wheel themselves.

The event has also featured the Future Collector Car Show (FCCS), which celebrates the next generation of collectible vehicles and gives enthusiasts a look at what could become a future collector car.

Away from the cars, visitors can explore the Exhibitor Marketplace, with hundreds of vendors selling automotive products, merchandise, and more. There’s also diverse food and beverage options and live entertainment throughout the event.

Special events have included STEM Fest, Professional Bull Riding, family-focused programming, concerts, and other experiences. With so much included beyond the auction itself, you don’t need to be a serious collector to enjoy a day at Barrett-Jackson.
